Self Portrait

Kevin George Oxley, born Hay NSW 1941 displayed a natural talent as a child and developed his own “self directed” learning program for art and developing his creativity. After 45 years of producing art of all kinds in all sorts of materials, the validity of his learning method is well recognised. His teaching methods are based on those early learning experiences.

Oxley has won numerous major art awards, taught and lectured at schools, colleges and universities and been hung in the prestigious Archibald portrait prize competition. He has been commissioned to paint knights of the realm, premiers and other notable people. As well as producing 2 and 3 dimensional art he has also held administrative positions as director of Tweed Regional Art Gallery, Co-ordinator of the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize, Director of “Wyreena” Community Arts Centre, Croydon, Victoria, Founder, Director of Hawkesbury Community Arts Workshop (on campus) University of Western Sydney, Richmond NSW.

Oxley is a prolific artist and his works are to be found in Parliament House, Sydney, The Lodge, Canberra, the Sydney Opera House, Hawkesbury Shire Council, NSW, plus many private and corporate collections throughout Australia and overseas.

Kevin Oxley, his wife Kim and daughter Emma, now live at Montville Queensland. He has a daughter Rachael, and son Tim, which both live in Queensland. He currently focuses on design concepts which can involve collaboration with several outstanding artisans of the region.
